Conclusion
I find mesoamerican civilizations very interesting. They were astronomers, warriors, laborers, architects, artists, traders and many other things, all in the early stages of human development. The use of simple, primitive tools and technology to create grand pyramids and temples leaves me amazed and shocked. The logical sense of these ancient people had to be very strong, to create structures as big as the pyramid of the sun, or a city as complex to make as Tenochtitlan. While their logic in other things is rather weird and ambiguous, they were generally bright people. Their intelligence is to be admired, but what I find most interesting is their culture. The rituals, ceremonies, gods, beliefs and traditions that these people had were very eccentric. One aspect I find most interesting in mesoamerican cultures is that of sacrifice. I ask myself why would they do it, why did all of them think their blood would please the gods? Such disparate beliefs to those of today. Discarding the reason of sacrifices, the curious aspects of these rituals are the way they did the sacrifices. Even though most of the sacrifices are simply cutting the heart out, there are others in which a different approach to the taking of a human life is made. These approaches, like stabbing the body full of arrows, is what I call making sacrifice an art. It should not be called an art, given that it is a very inhuman act, but nevertheless, it is kind of artistic. Now that we are talking about art, I honestly don't like mesomerican art. I find it kind of crude and unimaginative, but there is also the fact that simple and complex art has been in this world for for many years, and that is fascinating. As if the human mind was programmed to create art. In my opinion, the mesoamerican civilizations are very similar and different to the cultures of today, were the differences lie in beliefs, and the similarities lie in forms of living.
